Melanie's surprise birthday party
Sorry I'm so late posting this. Two Saturdays ago, a bunch of us Leglers got together in Scottsdale to celebrate Melanie Legler's birthday. We all met at Abuelos restaurant (Scottsdale road and the 202) Paul actually managed to keep it a secret so we were able to surprise Melanie. DeAnn and Jeanine put together a gift basket and a big arrangement of helium balloons. And of course DeAnn brought her fun confetti, which was scattered around the table. Some of us (DeAnn, Nate, Julie, Ivan, etc.) discovered the little metal balloons made great shooting rockets. So, you can imagine how our table looked with people shooting metallic balloon confetti at each other and Nathan in his usual silly form. Poor Jeanine kept commenting that there was no invisible dome of silence to hide our craziness. I think we definitaly stood out at the restaurant. It was fun though and Melanie seemed to really enjoy it. We were glad to be able to give her this special surprise and we are so happy to have her part of our crazy "Legler" clan.

4th of July BBQ at Nate and DeAnns
Yesterday we enjoyed a fun BBQ at Nate and DeAnns house. We ate a ton of food as usual but that wasn't all. Many of us went to the movie "Get Smart" and we all laughed a lot. Poor DeAnn had Nathan on one side and me on the other laughing as loud as can be "in stereo" and at all the same scenes. I even took the same bite out of DeAnns Harkins cup as Nate. (We both have the same genetic quirks!) .
Then there was the "pickle" that I kept smelling during the movie only to find out Amy Legler was eating a "giant" pickle right next to me. Makes sense now with Amy being pregnant but she tells us she has always loved to eat pickles at movies. (Who knew?)
After the movie, we all went back to Nate and DeAnns to play games and watch a few ....fireworks. (You know, the home made by Levi variety). Well, after a few good "booms" and some nice flashes of light, we suddenly had the police helicopter flying over the house shining their search lights in the back yard. Everyone got a little nervous but after a bit they flew away. We're still not sure if the glow in the dark smiley face I put on the table in the backyard made them laugh or not but that's about when they decided to check out other more interesting yards.
After that we played "laugh your pants off" (or the milder title) "laugh yourself silly". It's kind of a combination of charades and telephone mixed together. It can be quite the silly game though and everyone seemed to have a good time. Since it was now midnight, we decided we better finally go on home (poor DeAnn had to work in the morning). As a parting act of "silliness", Cassie and I decorated DeAnn's front tree with glow-in-the-dark bracelets. A new tradition, the Fourth of July tree!
We missed many of you and wish you all could have been there. Paul and Melanie we really missed you and hope we can do something together soon. We also missed Ivan and Janet's kids. We would love to plan an activity for everyone to come to soon. Well, love you all lots and glad we can be a part of this "crazy" and "unique" family.

Fourth of July BBQ at Nate and DeAnns
Just want to make sure all Legler's know about the Fourth of July BBQ Friday at Nate and DeAnn's house. We will start about 4:00 and pig out for several hours. Those who want to go see fireworks we'll probably go see the ones off of Brown and Lyndsay by the church there. They're not bad for church fireworks. We usually go to a park near by. So be there are be square. Bring your favorite game and/or call DeAnn to see if she needs anything else. Hope to see you all there!
